Happy, Healthy, Real and Honest Weight loss Transformation.
Hey babes! This is me in the photos above. I’m a mum of two little girls and since January 2016 i have been on a weight loss journey, documenting everything on my Instagram as i go. Totally out in the open, real and honest.
Before i started my weight loss journey i weighed 73kgs and found out i had an under active thyroid. (still do) I was so tired and lacking in energy to the point where i couldn’t keep my eyes open. This made me more miserable and depressed but more determined to do something about it. Since i left school i was always looking for a quick fix for weight loss, I wasn’t over weight then but i still wasn’t happy or content with how i looked or felt. I have tried a lot of quick fixes since then and i was always left disappointed and still so unhappy.
New Years Eve i decided that this was going to be the year to change everything and live a life. I wasn’t going to let myself or anything get in the way. I knew it wasn’t just a weight loss journey, it was a lifestyle change!
MY FIRST STEPS
In January 2016 i came across Kayla Itsines and her bbg program on Instagram and i saw all of these AMAZING transformations that were so inspiring and such a welcoming, supportive community, I knew i needed to be apart of.
I bought the first BBG Ebook and I began the first BBG workout. I was so unfit and unhealthy, i really struggled! Remember not even getting through the first 10 minutes of it, i couldn’t complete a circuit and had to modify a lot of the exercises. I was in tears because I felt like I just couldn’t do it But at the same time there was no way i was giving up and going back to the unhappy miserable person i was and do nothing about it.
So I started power walking every day, pushing my girls in the pram for 45 minutes to help with my cardio fitness. I started the workout and when it got too hard or I was out of breath I stopped and took a couple minutes break to catch my breath. It was so discouraging but I wasn’t going to throw the towel in this time! Each circuit I made it my goal to do a little more than the time before and it was okay that I couldn’t do a whole workout or I went slower than the average person. Since i hadn’t done any exercise for the past couple years so I didn’t expect to cheer through it. To be honest It was freaking hard but I knew if I just kept trying i would eventually be able to do it.
TEN MONTHS IN
So here i am 10 months into my journey, working out 3-4 times a week for 30 mins and walking everyday. I eat healthy 80% of the time and i am so much happier, healthier, comfortable, fitter and stronger. I have grown so much throughout this journey. I have learned to appreciate myself and enjoy life, I’ve learn that exercise and being active is one of the best antidepressants! I’ve learned to set goals and smash them and the best things come from stepping outside your comfort zone. I’ve even learned to cook simple healthy meals!
What was your diet like before you started your healthy lifestyle?
I pretty much only drank coke, i would sometimes have a beer with dinner or a have couple in the afternoon on the weekend. I ate a lot of takeaway because i used to feel it was “easier” and i hated cooking but once i started to research healthy meal ideas and learn what i should be eating cooking was a lot easier and i learned to enjoy it.
What is your diet like now?
I eat lots of protein and steamed vegetables. I drink A LOT of water, sometimes ill have a green tea x100.
What do you do to stay active?
I now workout 3-4 times a week for 30mins and walk everyday for 45mins. I also love hiking whenever i get the chance!!
