Sometimes I struggle to remember what I did the day before or the weekend
before (okay it used to be a lot of the time!) But that’s not because I was out drinking I probably couldn’t handle looking after my kids with a hangover. Just the thought is giving me a headache hahah. I do believe exercise definitely helps to remember things faster though. My memory used to be so bad before I started my health and fitness journey and I’ve noticed it doesn’t take as long for me to remember what I did throughout the day before.
Exercise has so many positive affects such as keeping our bodies strong and healthy, is amazing for our heart health and contributes to weight loss. But new research has come out that regular exercise can actually be very beneficial for our brains as well. Even small amounts of exercise can improve our problem solving processes, memory and helps with focus.
Recent studies done by researchers at Western University in Canada found that doing as little as 10 minutes of aerobic exercise can help improve our problem solving abilities and our focus. It is super easy to incorporate just 10 minutes into our daily routines. It’s as simple as walking to the end of the road every afternoon or starting to do some beginners yoga or Pilates. This will not only increase your brain health, but will improve our bodies as well. I don’t mean weight loss, I mean it will make us stronger, healthier and happier.
As I have said before, it doesn’t have to be a full blown workout. If that’s what you enjoy and you want to do, then that is amazing. But research is showing that we only need to add a little bit of exercise to have really good results within our inner health. Another study done by the University of California revealed that going for a short walk everyday can increase our overall brain health. How amazing is that!?
