My Tips for keeping to your New Years resolution
Welcoming a new year is a great time to re-evaluate your goals or make some new ones. Keeping to these goals is the hard part. There are so many amazing things we want from life and most, if not all are achievable if you work hard and do it the right way. Over the years I’ve set, and failed to meet, so many goals. I’ve finally discovered the secret to making them stick.
Firstly, make them realistic. Your goals do not have to be big and grandiose. Setting small, achievable goals will go along way to making sure you reach them. For instance if you want to lose 20kg, that’s a big goal. It can be overwhelming and scary. But if you say, I want to eat healthy or exercise 3 times a week, you’ve made something big into and easily attainable goal.
Secondly, be organised. Once you have your goals, sit down and figure out how exactly you’re going to make them happen. If you want to exercise more, plan out some times where you are free and make them your exercise time. If you know you have some spare time every Wednesday evening for example, block it off and put in a walk, or a workout. Soon it will be apart of your routine and you won’t have to think twice about it.
Thirdly, be accountable. You can do this by setting even smaller goals. For instance set a goal that for this week, you’ll go for 3 walks. When you’ve achieved that, make it a routine and add to it. You can also keep yourself accountable by doing it with a buddy. If you have someone supporting you and someone to support, you’re chances of success sky rocket!
And lastly, keep going. Sometimes you get off track. That’s okay, keep going. Get yourself back on track and don’t look back. It’s okay for things to not go to plan. But work to get back to it. You’ll thank yourself in the end.
I am so excited to see what 2019 brings for me and for all of you! Let’s make this year the best one yet!
