How to stay motivated to lose weight and get fit

Lets talk motivation!

 

One of the main questions I get asked a lot is how I stay motivated or how did I get motivated to start. We all have different reasons as to why we want to change our lifestyle to lose weight, get fit and healthy. We aren’t all going to have the same motivation kicks, what works for me isn’t necessarily going to work for you. You need to find your own motivation. Why do you want to be fit? Why do you want to be healthy? Why do you want to lose weight?

Grab a pen and paper and physically write your reasons down. I’m serious… Go grab a pen and some paper and write your reasons down and pop it in your bathroom somewhere so you can see it everyday whether it be in the bathroom when you brush your teeth in the mornings or even where you get dressed, where ever you’ll see it everyday.

Motivation comes and goes for me as well. I don’t wake up with motivation everyday and sometimes I don’t feel like working out or going for a walk, that’s why you need to make it a habit, make it apart of your routine and just do it!

 

My Top tips to achieve your health and fitness goals.

 

Just do it, get it done!

Remember that amazing feeling after you’ve completed a workout or been for a walk? That’s what I chase! I totally understand that there are days where you just don’t feel like working out or doing anything but that’s why you need to make it a habit and just do it!

 

Make small steps

I think the reason I failed so many times in the past was because I tried to do everything all at once, I always got so overwhelmed and just gave up when it got to hard.

For example.
Going from no exercise to trying to exercise everyday, most of the time its just not going to happen. You could feel discouraged because your muscles are sore from working out the day before. It’s a new feeling to get used to so take it slow and take a break when your body needs it. Be patient as your fitness improves and take it one day at a time.

When making changes to your diet. Start small by swapping things like cheese to cottage cheese etc.

 

Set small goals

Setting small realistic goals along the way is so important. Your goal need to be specific, think about how your small goals are going to help you get what you want. Starting a new healthy lifestyle is definitely challenging and there will be plenty of ups and downs. Believe in yourself and know that you are capable of archiving whatever you want to!

 

Get some new gym wear

When in doubt get get some new workout clothes, that always brings me motivation and satisfaction.
