10 WAYS TO LOSE WEIGHT WITHOUT GOING TO A GYM

Going to the gym and weight loss sound like they go hand in hand. Most people think you need a gym membership to lose weight but that isn’t true at all. There are so many different ways to lose weight without spending countless dollars and stepping into a gym.

 

You don’t need to spend $14+ a week on a gym membership that probably won’t get used as often as it should to make your membership worth having. Lets face it we all live busy lives trying to balance work, family, friends and other commitments is hard and sometimes stressful. If you’re like me, someone who is time poor.. Here some great alternatives to getting fit outside of the gym.

 

10 WAYS TO LOSE WEIGHT WITHOUT GOING TO A GYM

 

GO FOR A POWER WALK
Going for a fast-paced walk is a great way to burn calories and improve your cardiovascular fitness. Walk whenever, where ever. Park further away from the shopping entrance and walk.

 

TAKE THE STAIRS
Don’t use the lifts. Take the stairs whenever possible or walk down the escalator. Want to take your fitness to a new level? Find an outdoor flight of stairs nearby. You’ll boost your heart rate and burn fat in no time as well as toning your glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps and core.

 

MOW THE LAWN
This is one of my favourite ways to get my heart rate up and get a tan. Depending on how high your grass is pushing a lawn mower around can get tiring. Don’t forget your water and the sunscreen!

 

DANCE AROUND
There are so many free fitness dance videos available on YouTube. When I first started my fitness journey I came across The Fitness Marshall Don’t be fooled! They make it look so easy but within a minute you’ll be out of breath and breaking a sweat.

 

CLEAN YOUR HOUSE
Okay, this one doesn’t sound that fun BUT if you turn on your favourite tunes that will help! Start by vacuuming and washing those tiny little hand prints or crayon marks off the walls. Trust me this is a killer workout for the arms.

 

FREE PARK CLASSES
Did you know? Most local councils offer free fitness classes. Check out their website for a time table or give them a call and take a friend along to one of their free fitness classes.

 

DO BODY WEIGHT EXERCISES
Body weight exercises are a great way to get started if you don’t have any equipment yet. There are tones of free workouts on YouTube.

 

ADVENTURE OUT
Ever thought of taking a walking tour of your city? Or going to a hike? Chance up your walking pace and challenge your body.

 

SKIP IT
No, I don’t mean skipping the workout. You can pick up a skipping rope for around $2 at K-mart. I love skipping robes. Once you get the hang of skipping it’s a great way to burn extra calories and strengthen your lower body muscles.

 

MAKE MORE HEALTHY MEALS
Since you’re here your goal is probably to lose weight. Exercise will definitely help but you can’t out train a bad diet.

    This is great advice! I firmly believe gyms are a waste of money. There are so many other options out there! I watch exercise videos on Youtube, which is a great way to get a free workout.

    I totally agree! If you enjoy going to the gym, I say, go for it! But if you don’t have the time, money or enjoy it, it’s not a deal breaker when it comes to getting fit. I love doing workouts from YouTube!
